THREE KITTENS BORN ON 31 January2012. Please consult our kitten pages for more news, photos, videos etc. as the kittens develop.
Welcome to Jhalakana Bengals. We are situated in Indre (dept 36) in the centre of France, two hours south of Paris and one hour from Orleans and Tours. We are in our third year of breeding Bengal cats in France. Our cattery is small and very much a family concern.
We have five breeding Bengal cats. All our cats and kittens are registered with the Livre Officiale des Origines Felines (LOOF for short) , the governing body for pedigree cats in France. All the kittens receive 5 generation LOOF pedigrees which is extremely important in France.
Our two males are Champion Glitterglam Taj Zafraan [1] and Magic Bengal Gavroche (judged Excellent 1 by LOOF at 5 months old). We hope Gavroche will be a Champion soon too. Both males are Brown rosetted with magical glitter. Our females are Glitterglam Bayadere [2], Jhalakana Gitali (brown rosetted) and Silverglam Silver Sunrise (our first silver rosetted and glittered Bengal). We hope to see some silver kittens as well as brown in 2012. Glitterglam/ Silverglam is a top UK bengal breeder and we are very grateful to Jill Fyfe of Glitterglam for her guidance and help.
The Bengal is stunning, not only in appearance, but also in temperament, making them excellent domestic companions. They are affectionate as well as very intelligent. They are highly active as kittens and young adults and require plenty of stimulation and fun. As they mature they become more interested in settling down on your lap!
Jhalakana means "to glitter" in the Hindi language and our aim is produce excellent quality, well socialised Bengal kittens with great contrast, rosettes, clear satiny fur and beautiful glitter coat [3]s . Our cattery name is registered with both LOOF [4] and TICA [5]. I am also a member of the Cercle Felin du Bengal de France [6]. I have an Attestation of Connaissances for domestic animals and the French Certificat de Capacite to breed and sell pedigree cats. This is very important because the breeding of cats is highly regulated and controlled in France so it is illegal to breed more than one litter a year if you do not have a Certificat de Capacite. If you breed more than one litter and do not have a Certificat you cannot obtain a LOOF pedigree. Incidentally watch out for adverts offering Bengal 'type' kittens with no mention of the pedigree. They are probably the result of a cross with an ordinary tabby cat and not true Bengals.
I try to show our cats as often as possible which I think is very important for development and knowledge of the breed and it's also fun to meet breeders and see cats of all breeds as well as enter the judging arena and win titles.
We hope you enjoy browsing our website and finding out more about our cats [7], the glitter [3], future kittens [8] and the Bengal breed [9].
